Jazan University launched the 21st Scientific Forum of the Secretariat of the Committee of Deans of deanships, colleges and centers of community services and the continuing education in the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council, yesterday morning at the headquarters of the university, attended by the Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Hassan Bin Hijab AlHazmi, vice deans of the University and members of the General Committee of the Secretariat of the Gulf universities.
The Dean of the Continuing Education and Community Service of Jazan University, Dr. Mohammed Bin Ali Ma’ashi explained that this meeting comes as the result of the societal role of the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council States. The establishment of the community service and the continuing education Committee is to emphasize the importance of the role of universities in the provision of social and qualitative services, showing that the importance of these meetings is represented in the cross-fertilization of ideas and the exchange of experiences and visions and the suggestions among a group of professors, experts and specialists in the community and educational work, stressing the importance of activating the joint work among the members which will reflect positively on meeting the developmental and national needs of the Gulf society and contribute to solving the problems and meet the overall development requirements.
The Secretary of the Gulf Committee of Deans of the deanships, colleges and centers of community service and continuing education Dr. Ibrahim Mohammed Karam from Kuwait University, confirmed that this annual meeting comes out of the great attention given by deanships of the society services and the researchers toward societal issues in order that a group of elite researchers provide proposals and working papers aiming at the progress of community service and the educational process, confirming that the role of the deanships of community service must evolve in order to respond to threats to society challenges in all respects.
The Secretary of the Committee of Deans and deanships of Saudi Universities Dr. Abdullah AlResin from the University of Imam Muhammad bin Saud explained that the most important features of this annual forum is the continuity of its holding whilst cancelling many meetings, confirming the need to activate the recommendations of such meetings, and expressed his thanks to the University of Jazan for hosting the forum and the initiative to hold this forum.
During the first session of the forum a working paper was presented by Dr. Abdul Rahman bin Mohammed Al-Qurashi of Najran University entitled (“The role of university youth in the community service”), and the discussion of a proposal submitted by Dr. Rashid Bin Musalat AlSharif from Tabuk University entitled (“The experiment of Tabuk University in the implementation of the program for the qualifying of the advocates”), during the first session also the minutes of the 21st meeting of the Secretariat was adopted and follow-up of its recommendations, and the discussion of the annual report of the Secretariat.
The second session discussed a proposal by Dr. Mohammed bin Ali Ma’ashi from Jazan University entitled (“Community service with school students for better future”). Also a working paper proposed by Dr. Rajab bin Abdullah AlAsmaeil from Qatar University was presented, and the discussion of a working paper presented by Dr. Salem bin Ahmed Aldeeni from King Fahd University for Petroleum and Minerals entitled (“Community Partnership: Enhancing the third function of universities, Fahd University of Petroleum model”) was done.
